For her first Métiers d’art, a ready-to-wear collection that focuses on the virtuosity of the craftspersons behind the excellency of French couture, Virginie Viard draws her inspiration on the iconic address where Gabrielle Chanel set up shop in 1918: 31 Rue Cambon. Today, the brand’s Parisian main boutique is still there, in this same building’s ground floor, under the reception rooms where Haute Couture fittings happen. Above, Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment, and then the ateliers.

The maison’s codes are visible throughout the whole collection: black and white, laces, embroideries, camelias —the couturière favorite flowers, feathers, pearls, bows, gold chains, crêpe and of course tweed are incorporated in beautiful garments that revisit the classical shapes of the brand.
