Following the Cruise 2022/23 show presented in Monaco last May, CHANEL has chosen to stage the collection campaign here too, photographed by Mikael Jansson. These images celebrate the connections that unite CHANEL with the Principality: “the French aspect, the Beach Club and La Vigie, the villa where Karl Lagerfeld spent his holidays and worked,”summarises the photographer. “I'm a big fan of motor racing and I found it very inspiring how references to this world have been incorporated into the collection.”
The photos pay tribute to typically Monegasque destinations and ambiances, with the models caught on film using a telephoto lens, as if caught unawares in their movement: Vittoria Ceretti by the edge of a swimming pool; Loli Bahia on the deck of a boat or strolling along the pier. Thoughtful shots with the illusion of being spontaneous. “I love working with Virginie Viard because she always encourages the creativity of photographers. For this campaign, our references were the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel - where the show took place - and a paparazzi atmosphere,” explains Mikael Jansson.
Swimsuits with a two-tone motif like the checkered racing flag, an all-white look referencing the tennis world, a jersey ensemble beaded with double C's, a sequinned bodysuit and trouser suit worn with heels and costume jewellery... These sporty and sophisticated silhouettes embody the very spirit of the Cruise collections, first imagined by Gabrielle Chanel at the end of the 1910s for life by the sea.
The CHANEL Cruise 2022/23 collection will be available in boutiques from November 14th2022.
